MUKESH MEHTA
Mukesh Mehta is the Chairman of M M Project Consultants Pvt Ltd (MMPC). It is an architecture and project management consultancy firm based in Mumbai. He is a social entrepreneur and an architect, with over 45 Years of professional and entrepreneurial experience. He has created an innovative strategy to make cities slum free in a sustainable and inclusive manner. The strategy focuses on treating slum dwellers as valuable human resources and integrating them with the mainstream, thereby allowing them to act as engines for economic growth. The strategy for Slum Free Cities and Development of Old and Dilapidated Buildings are registered under copyrights act of India.

INITIATIONS RECEIVED AS SPEAKER:
- University of Berkeley, California as Visiting Scholar in May 2005 for further research on the applicability of Mukesh’s strategies to cities with the most challenging slum issues in developing countries around the world.
- Invited as Speaker by UN Habitat – Fourth Session of World Urban Forum in China in November 2008 on Social Equity and Inclusiveness.
- Involved in the case study prepared by Harvard Business School in July 2009 on Dharavi project which will be made as a part of their course
- Invited as Speaker in the 2nd Asia Pacific Housing Forum in September 2009 in Philippines on Making Cities Slum Free: the role of the private sector in addressing urban poverty housing
Shaan Mehta
Shaan returned to India in 2001, as he was interested in the emergence of slum redevelopment in Mumbai, both as a developer and as a consultant to public sector clients. He views redevelopment not only as a significant growth space, but also the single biggest opportunity to change the landscape of the city. He Co-founded MM Project Consultants in 2006, As the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, MMPCPL’s work in the field of slum redevelopment has been recognized as being path breaking, and has been covered through major media outlets such as National Geographic, The Economist, Wall Street Journal, etc. His company’s approach to slum redevelopment has also been the subject of a Harvard Business School case study.
Outside of the office, Shaan is an avid skier, golfer, volleyball and squash player and dog lover.
